Hello there! My name is Anna and I am an Outreachy intern in Mozilla Firefox. Originally I am from Ukraine but several years ago moved to the United States. Starting a new life in a new country was not easy but it taught me an important lesson: your life is in your hands and everything is possible. So about a year ago I decided to make a major career change and started a front-end developer course. Unfortunately at the same time the war in Ukraine started. It was extremely hard to concentrate on anything else except the news, but I feel like my front-end lessons helped to keep my sanity. And I quickly realized how much I enjoy what I am doing.
After finishing the course I continued my learning journey by doing personal projects. When I found out about the Outreachy program I decided to give it a try. My goal was to try something new, learn and grow in the process. In the end, I was lucky enough to be selected as an intern on the project that I enjoyed the most during the contribution period.
I would say that my core values are contribution, growth and curiosity.
I love to have the opportunity to contribute to a project that is used by others. There is a gratifying feeling that comes with it. Contribution takes various forms, from volunteering and mentorship to sharing knowledge and expertise. Each act, no matter how small, has the potential to inspire, empower, and transform lives.
The value of growth lies in its ability to foster personal development, enabling us to expand our capabilities. Growth is not merely about achieving success or acquiring external accomplishments, it is a lifelong process of self-improvement, both professionally and personally.
Curiosity puts us on a journey of continuous learning. It fuels innovation and propels us towards uncharted territories, allowing us to break through barriers and solve complex problems.
When curiosity and growth combine with contribution, they form a powerful synergy. Curiosity fuels personal growth, which, in turn, equips us to make meaningful contributions.
